NJCVLC 2010 Fundriser

This year the NJCVLC took a different road to raise funds for the victim law clinic.  Executive Director Richard D. Pompelio decided that this year he would donate his 1956 Ford Thunderbird to the law center to raise funds to enable continued pro bono legal support for victims of violent crime.

The event took place on December 3rd at Hanover Lanes, East Hanover New Jersey.  Over 100 folks were in attendance. It was a great evening spent with all those who support the mission of the center. 

The ticket winners were drawn around 8 pm that evening.  Kathy Roberts from Somers Point, N. J. was the lucky winner of the T-bird.

Car Raffle Rules           

OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS ELIGIBILITY

You must be 18 years of age or older to donate andparticipate in the NJCVLC raffle.

Only one (1) individual may be identified as the donor for theraffle entry.

All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.Void where prohibited. Entries will be made by donations only.

All donations are non refundable per IRS rules.

It is the donor’s responsibility to provide a valid,deliverable mailing address and email address to: NJCVLC; and its agents,Board, vendors, volunteers and members assume no liability for lost, late,misdirected, mutilated, incomplete, illegible, undelivered entries or entrieswithout proper payment received, which entries shall be deemed invalid andshall be immediately disqualified.

NJCVLC employees and Board members are not eligible toparticipate in this Raffle.

NJCVLC decision shall be final. NJCVLC may at any timemodify, revise, or update the Official Rules to correct any errors, omissionsor changes to the Raffle, in its sole discretion. 

By entering the Raffle, the donor acknowledges that he orshe is aware of and is bound by all of the official raffle rules.

COST

Each entry is $50.00. Each entry is non refundable.

DRAWINGS

A maximum/minimum of 2,000 entries will be sold for theRaffle.

All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST on (Enterdate) to be eligible for this drawing. Drawing takes place on December 3rd,2010 at Hanover Lane, 119 Route 10, East Hanover, NJ 07981. Winner does not have tobe present to win.

PRIZES

The winner of the Grand Prize ("GPW") – 1956 FordThunderbird -  is entitled to thecar. Within 30 days of notification by NJCVLC the GPW will be informed as soonas arrangements are made with the owner of the vehicle. GPW then must supplyNJCVLC with any and all requested documentation.  The winner is solely responsible for any and all shippingand handling costs and state or local license, title, registration, taxes, orfees associated with the vehicle, as well as insurance (proof of which must beshown prior to possession) and pickup or delivery costs. 3  additional prizes will be awarded.Prizes may not be exactly as shown, are based on manufacturer availability andmay be substituted with a prize of similar value.  No prize is valued at less than $100.00 MSRP. The odds ofwinning a prize are dependent upon the number of valid entries received. In theevent of a winning entry having more than one name, NJCVLC will award the prizeto the first name listed on the entry. Records of NJCVLC shall be deemedcorrect if there is any discrepancy. NJCVLC is not responsible for resolvingany disputes that may arise from different individuals listed on a rafflecertificate. With proper transfer documents bearing notarized signatures, asrequired by the Raffle, a prize may be transferred. Winners are responsible forall shipping and handling costs.

NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS

All winners will be notified via e-mail or by phone of theprize won and any requisite procedures to claim the prize. Only winners’ firstname and last initial and locations by city or town, and state, will be postedat www.njcvlc.org. If a selected winner is unable to be contacted or locatedafter a period of forty (40) days from the draw date of any raffle drawing, theprize will be deemed to have been donated to NJCVLC for use by their charitableorganization. All contact attempts shall be made to the address and emailaddress provided by the raffle entry contributor. All winners, by entering,authorize NJCVLC to publish their name and likeness on the website and for itto be used in other promotional materials by NJCVLC. 

TAXES AND IRS RULES

All winners shall be responsible for any and all federal,state and local income or excise taxes, fees, assessments and like chargesassociated with the prizes. All cash prizes will be paid net of applicableincome tax withholding. The IRS requires that income tax withholding on prize values of $5,100 or greater must be paid upon award and distribution. Governmentrules governing withholding can change without notice. The New Jersey CrimeVictims’ Law Center will follow the rules in effect at the time the prizes areawarded. The IRS has taken the position that amounts paid for chances toparticipate in raffles, lotteries or similar programs are not gifts and,therefore, the price of the entry does not qualify as a deductible charitablecontribution. Check with your qualified financial advisor for additionalinformation.

WAIVER/LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY

Entry donors, by participating (and winners, by accepting aprize) release New Jersey Crime Victims’ Law Center  and its respective board, committee members, volunteers,partners, vendors, agents, representatives, sponsors, service agencies andindependent contractors, and each of their respective directors, officers,partners, employees and agents, including advertising, public relations, directmarketing and promotion agencies, from any and all liability with respect toparticipation in the promotion and possession or use of the prize(s) awardedand also acknowledge that they did not receive any representations, warranty orguarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize,including but not limited to its quality, mechanical condition or fitness. Anyliability of NJCVLC shall be limited to ticket price paid and in the case ofany dispute, NJCLVC decision shall be final. NJCVLC may at any time modify,revise, or update the Official Rules to correct any errors, omissions orchanges to the Raffle, in its sole discretion. By participating in the Raffleyou accept and are bound by its rules.

At our annual gala event was held on September 27, 2007 The New Jersey Crime Victims’ Law Center was proud to present the 2007 Endless Journey Award to United States Attorney Christopher J.  Christie who has recaptured for Our State a sense of pride and recognition of honesty, integrity and a genuine respect for the rule of law. Crime is primarily about its victims, and by dramatically raising the bar of justice in New Jersey, Mr. Christie has elevated a sense of fairness, compassion and dignity for all victims of crime.

Senator Loretta Weinberg  and Assemblyman John Burzichelli  was also recognized for their substantial contributions to the cause of victims’ rights.
