James M. Porfido has been on the Teresa G. Wright Promise Foundation Board since 1997. Mr. Porfido has been a public speaker for the Foundation at High Schools through out Morris and many other counties in New Jersey. Mr. Porfido made a presentation before the DARE officers at the DARE Convention in Atlantic City in 1998. Together with Mr. Matos, Mr. Porfido has spoken to over 65,000 students about Bill & Teri, the Foundation's message, and the importance in our community of the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Mr. Porfido is the President of James M. Porfido, Attorney at Law, LLC in Morristown, NJ. He was a Morris County Assistant Prosecutor from 1989 to 1997. He was the Chief Prosecutor of the Sex Crimes Child Abuse Unit and Vehicular Homicide Unit. Mr Porfido's commitment to the Foundation stems from his prosecution and conviction of the driver who killed Teri Wright. This trial and conviction resulted in the first drunk driver to be convicted of Aggravated Manslaughter in Morris County

Mr. Porfido is certified as a Criminal Trial Attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court. Mr. Porfido holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Seton Hall University and a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from the University of Bridgeport School of Law (now Quinnipiac College). He is actively involved as a Board member at Hope House in Dover, a Division of Catholic Charities, and as a Board of Director with D.A.R.E. New Jersey and as a Trustee of the NJ Crime Victims' Law Center of NJ where he represents crime victims pro-bono and devotes his time to a number of other charitable organizations. He has been an instructor at the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) for Criminal Trial Preparation. He is the recipient of the NJ Coalition of Crime Victims and has been recognized with an Achievement awarded by Randolph Police FOP and the Dedication and Service Award from the Morris County Policeman's Benevolent Association Local 327. Jim resides in Bernardsville with his wife Lynne and son Cole.
